Note di degustazione
Lignier’s Clos Saint-Denis comes from two complementary sites: one on the steeper, rockier, Chambolle side with 70-year-old vines which tend to be responsible for the amazing aromatic lift to the wine. The other plot of 50-year-old vines, on the Morey-Saint-Denis side, brings richness and roundness to the palate. In 2020 it is very expressive with a lovely aromatic bouquet of incense, dry spice, quality oak and earthy mineral notes. At the core of this wine there is fantastic density of fruit. The tannins are very fine, the texture silky-soft, with a lively, mid-palate fleshiness. Yields are almost halved in 2020 but what survived the drought is outstanding.

Not that deep garnet. Lifted and transparent. Pretty dry and demanding at this stage, without that much grand cru concentration. Lightly bitter end with something metallic on the finish. It may come right but it's not an obvious must-buy for the moment. (JR)
