20 years old. Pale greenish yellow. Quite a rich, attention-grabbing start reminiscent of candied nuts and candied peel. Fresh finish. Lots of acidity and green-fruit quality. Out there and just a little painfully extreme but very pure. (JR)

20–25 years old. Pale amber with some orange tints. Floral, hazelnut, hard cheese and some creamy oak spice, with orange-peel fruit. Light-medium body, with toasty oak, spice, hazelnut and some astringency to the finish. Lovely concentration and length, with a subtle, salty tang. (TJ)
Nutty and toffeed on the nose, walnuts and dark marmalade. Lightly smoky too. Quite a dark style of palo cortado. So dry and intense it is almost sour on the finish. Take in very small sips and with cheese. Almost too much. (JH)
About 20 years old. Deep gold. Sweeter smelling than some though it is almost bone dry (RS c 3 g/l). Burnt orange and bitter caramel. Stands out for a marked tangy freshness and lots of dried-fruit intensity but also a hint of chamomile fragrance and a note of honey. Intense if slightly hard on the palate though there is a full richness that brings it back into balance. (JH)
