The 2017 Champagne Blanc De Blancs Les Grandes Crayeres Extra Brut is showing very nicely today, with notes of lemon custard, salty oyster shells, and delicate toasted pastry, but it’s more savory and medium to full-bodied on the palate. It’s very appealing now with its ripe notes of mango skin, pineapple, and ginger, which linger on the palate. It’s showing quite well and has plenty of life ahead to survive another 15 or 20 years. Disgorged in January 2021, with 2 grams per liter dosage.

Although this is only from 2017, it already tastes pretty mature with overripe-pear and dried-apple aromas. A bold and generous mouthful with plenty of depth at the crisp finish. Pretty long, though not overly complex. From vines planted in 1953 and 1978. The first fermentation in barriques. Drink now.
Taken from two parcels in Chavot planted in 1953 and 1978, Laherte's 2017 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Grandes Crayères 1er Cru is a wine of subtlety and nuance. There is a feeling of translucence here that is so appealing. The 2017 doesn't quite have the resonance of last year's release but it is very fine nonetheless. Pretty floral notes linger. Dosage is 2-4 grams per liter. Disgorged: January, 2021.
