Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2021 SawBones is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Syrah and 1% Malbec matured for 16 months in 80% new French oak. The nose opens with youthful cedar and cigar box that give way to a core of blackcurrant and blueberry, plus wafts of bay leaves and floral tones. The full-bodied palate has a core of optimally ripe fruit framed by powdery tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a long, chocolaty finish.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2025-2041, Jeb Dunnuck, Aug 2023

The 2021 Sawbones checks in as 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Syrah, and a bit of Malbec that spent 16 months in 80% new French oak. It's another ripe, powerful wine in the lineup offering classic currant and darker cherry fruits, some chocolaty background oak, full-bodied richness, and notes of lead pencil and tobacco. It needs 2-3 years to integrate its oak and tannins but will have 15-20 years of overall longevity. Joshua Harp’s Jada Vineyard, with help from Napa’s Tony Biagi, has leapt into the top handful of producers in Paso Robles over the last few years and these 2021s might be the best yet.
