Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2035, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2021 Strayts is composed of 85% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in 55% new French oak for 16 months. The nose is bursting with red and black currants and cherries accented by tones of grilled meats, pencil shavings, violet, milk chocolate and allspice. The medium-bodied palate features the classic supple tannins and plush, perfumed fruit of California Merlot. It has a balance of juicy acidity and a long, chocolaty finish. This is dangerously easy to drink!

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2023-2038, Jeb Dunnuck, Aug 2023

Black cherry, chocolate, loamy earth, and savory herb notes all emerge from the 2021 Strayts, a medium to full-bodied, ripe, opulent Merlot that bears more than a passing resemblance to a great Saint-Emilion. It has nicely integrated background oak, and it's a wine I'd love to taste in 10 to 15 years. The blend is 85% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, all from the Jada Vineyard, and aged 16 months in 55% new French oak. Joshua Harp’s Jada Vineyard, with help from Napa’s Tony Biagi, has leapt into the top handful of producers in Paso Robles over the last few years and these 2021s might be the best yet.
