Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2030-2041, Josh Raynolds, Dec 2022

Deep magenta. A pungent bouquet evokes ripe blue fruits, cola, botanical herbs, olive and licorice; a smoky mineral accent builds in the glass. Sweet and concentrated on the palate, offering intense, smoke-tinged dark fruit preserve, Moroccan spice, salty olive and floral pastille flavors that are brightened by a core of juicy acidity. Clings with impressive tenacity on the youthfully tannic finish, leaving behind black and blue fruit and savory herb notes. All whole clusters.

The 2018 Côte Rôtie Montmain comes from a steep, south-facing parcel that’s always one of the first to be harvested. It’s a meaty, black olive, and iron-laced effort that has medium to full body, tons of obvious minerality, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s another wine that needs to be forgotten for a solid 5-6 years yet will deliver the goods.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2023-2030, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

Sandwiched between La Viallière and Gerine, the 2018 Côte Rôtie Montmain features cool, slightly herbal notes, red berries, violets and black tea leaves. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky and elegant, fragrant, but not that powerful.

Punteggio 95-96/100 · Josh Raynolds, May 2020

Pungent, spice-accented dark berry liqueur, candied violet and licorice on the nose, along with hints of smoky bacon and exotic spices. Palate-staining cassis, cherry liqueur, floral pastille and fruitcake flavors become livelier as the wine opens up. Chewy tannins build steadily on a very long, penetrating finish that strongly echoes the floral and spice notes. All whole clusters.
