Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2028-2048, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Oct 2021

Black core to narrow purple rim. The aroma is a blend of ripe black cherry and damson and a more savoury dark Douro character. On the palate, really sweet-fruited yet the fine, chiselled tannins cut through the sweetness to give a lovely balanced whole. Big, compact, all in place for a long life.  (JH)

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2026-2056, Mark Squires, Jul 2021

The 2019 Vintage Port is mostly Touriga Nacional (70%), with the rest Touriga Franca and a small dollop of Sousão, aged for 20 months in used Portuguese vats. It comes in with 99 grams of residual sugar. I want my chocolate. Doesn't everyone? If so, this is for you. This shows off classic Port flavors, superior concentration, moderate tannins and plenty of chocolate nuances on the finish. It tightens on the finish with aeration, but it isn't so hard to drink now, as the tannins are fairly ripe. Two days later, though, it still had some firmness. The finish is long and filled with flavor. This is not the one with the most finesse or lift to the fruit, but in terms of lushness, concentration and flavor, it shows great. This should hold a reasonable time. It will continue to develop for the next decade (or two) if you have patience.
