2009 Joseph Swan Syrah Trenton Estate Vineyard

Includes not more than 5% Viognier. Aged in old oak. These J Swan wines are extraordinary – whether Syrah or Zin, they tend to smell like particularly ripe, exuberant oak-aged Russian River Pinot! Very deep ruby. The sweet smell is reminiscent of oak but it's just comfortable ripe fruit. Hint of spearmint on the finish. Lots of pleasure and it builds towards a dramatic finish. Gentle texture with tannins fully resolved. (JR)
