Still showing beautifully, and one of the better bottles I’ve had of this, the 2003 E. Guigal Crozes-Hermitage is fleshy and open on the nose, showing loads of blackberry, smoked meat, tapenade, and leather aromas. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied with ample fruit, a full, rich texture, and a classic, structured finish. While the texture is starting to round and soften, there’s still noticeable tannic structure on the finish that will take a handful of years to fully flesh out. All in all, this is a rocking bottle of wine that delivers loads of northern Rhone character, as well as a mouthful of fruit.

Deep, saturated red. Explosively fresh bouquet of red berries, cracked pepper, smoky bacon and dried flowers. This is textbook Northern Rhone syrah, with supple red berry and floral flavors along with a sweet underbrush quality reminiscent of Morey-Saint-Denis. Vibrant and crisp on the silky, gently tannic finish. This will be an exceptional value.
