Note di degustazione
(a blend of chardonnay and roussanne): Bright yellow. Spicy, smoky aromas of pear, peach and melon, with notes of honey and dried flowers adding complexity. Sappy, concentrated and lush, offering honeyed pear and pit fruit flavors and a bracing note of lemon curd. Finishes with a clinging, sappy quality and persistent floral and juicy pear notes. Serve this hefty but surprisingly energetic wine with a rich, buttery seafood or poultry dish.

A rich, full-scaled white, the 2010 Out of Line checks in as a blend of 96% Chardonnay and 4% Roussanne. Offering up notions of ripe apples, subtle oak, toast, fresh cream and hazelnut, this beauty flows onto the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, juicy acidity and a poised, if not elegant texture and profile. Enjoy it over the coming 5-6 years. Drink now-2019. This was a great lineup by Matthias Pippig. Now making their wines from a newly renovated winery in the town of Santa Barbara, these wines offer loads of fruit, yet have impeccably made profiles. In addition, they also age gracefully. While the bulk of the lineup is red, don’t miss his whites! They’re rich and full-bodied, but unique, awesomely pure and focused. Tel. (805) 845-0920; www.sanguiswine.com
The 2010 Out of Line is gorgeous. Layers of nectarine, orange peel and honeysuckle jump from the glass as this juicy, flashy wine shows off its pedigree. All of the elements are beautifully balanced in this delineated, nuanced white. Elements of floral lift and tension frame the finish. Out of Line is predominantly Chardonnay, with a dollop (4%) of Roussanne.
