Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2023-2035, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Nov 2021

The 2017 Malbec Chacayes is half Cot fermented in clyvers and half Malbec fermented in barrels, both from Los Chacayes, Uco Valley and was aged for eight months in total. A vivid purple in color, the concentrated, simple nose presents pure notes of violet, fresh fruit and ripe plum. In the mouth, it’s free-flowing with potent flavor and tannins and a touch of chalk. The alcoholic muscle and fruity character combine to produce a ripe but fresh red.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2029, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Mar 2021

Even being from a warmer and somewhat challenging year, the flagship 2017 Chacayes shows freshness, seriousness, some austerity and elegance coming through as insinuating and subtle with subdued minerality and with some traces from the élevage in new barrels for two years, but the oak feels much more integrated. This is a long-distance runner, a serious Malbec that should develop nicely in bottle and improve and get more integrated and polished. 8,000 bottles were filled in December 2018.
