2005 Domaine Jacky Truchot-Martin Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru

Truchot's swan song 2005 Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is showing nicely, offering up a rich, slightly rustic bouquet of dark berries, cherries, baking chocolate and smoked meats, followed by a full-bodied, velvety and layered palate with a deep core of fruit, melting tannins and a long, animal-like finish. While I tend to prefer the cooler, more precise vintages chez Truchot, the 2005 will always be a special wine to me for sentimental reasons.
