Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2014-2020, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Aug 2014

The 2011 Altas Vinas is close to an even split of Mourvedre, Grenache and Syrah that spent 22 months in French oak. It too has fantastic purity in its creme de cassis, vanilla bean and toasted spice-driven aromatics. It's a full-bodied, rich and textured effort that has solid mid-palate depth and ripe tannin on the finish. While from a difficult vintage, you wouldn't know it by tasting it, and it will continue to impress through 2020. McPrice Myers continues to churn out outstanding, singular and age-worthy wines under his McPrice Myers label. Both of his late release 2011s showed beautifully, and the 2012s are a step up. The 2012s buck the vintage stereotype and have enough tannin and concentration to warrant short-term cellaring. In addition, these efforts always have a savory, structured style that should appeal to both Old and New World wine lovers. Tel. (805) 237-1245; www.barrel27-mcpricemyers.com
