2010 Robert Eymael-Monchhof Erdener Pralat Riesling Auslese

Despite being influenced by what he reports as 35-40% botrytis; despite harvest at 120 Oechsle; indeed, despite what I typically associate with this site, a particularly fine sense of levity and vivacity accompanies the glossy, honeyed, and marmalade richness of Eymael's 2010 Erdener Pralat Riesling Auslese as well as its confectionary expression of vanilla, brown spices, and herbal essences. As sweetly as this finishes, I would be inclined to wait a decade before revisiting it, but no doubt it harbors the stamina for at least twice that long. Robert Eymael seemed highly satisfied with his 2010 collection; though I perceived the quality as in a holding pattern vis-a-vis what had seemed to be steadily enhanced quality at this address the last several years.
