Punteggio 15.5/20 · Da bere 2014-2017, Jancis Robinson MW, Oct 2014
Tank/cask sample. 40% aged in one-year-old barriques. Very bright dark crimson. Modern, slightly oaky style on the nose. Pretty marked acidity. Ambitious but not that much like southern Rhône. Vibrant, concentrated red. (JR)

Coming from 60- to 90-year-old Grenache vines and aged in a combination of concrete tank and 2- to 5-year-old barrels, the 2013 Côtes du Rhône Villages le Ponnant is a finesses-driven effort that has pretty violets, blackberry, black raspberry, spice and underbrush aromatics. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, nicely concentrated and has high, yet ripe, tannin. It will round into form nicely once in bottle and have 5-6 years of prime drinking.
