Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2021-2035, Wine Enthusiast, Sep 2021

This is a structured, concentrated wine for the long haul, yet it offers plenty of charm right now. There are oodles of plump, plush blackberry and blueberry fruit and a baseline of florals, black olive, tobacco and black pepper. Tannins are tightly wound yet fine, allowing the lifted acidity, silky fruit and neatly placed oak to take the spotlight. Drink now with decanter at hand until 2028. Christina Pickard

Marked by scents of cola, spice and blueberry fruit, the 2016 Brookman Syrah is a full-bodied, richly textured example of McLaren Vale Shiraz. It's broad and expansive on the palate, then finishes with hints of vanilla, mocha, tapenade and espresso. Already approachable, it should nevertheless drink well for over a decade.

Lots of blackberries, plums, chocolate, and grilled rosemary notes emerge from the 2016 Syrah Brookman Vineyard, followed by a wild jus de viande-like character as well as beautiful richness and depth on the palate. Full-bodied and nicely concentrated, with both acidity and tannins, it's another gorgeous wine from this estate that benefits from a decant, will improve over the coming 3-4 years, and evolve gracefully for upwards of two decades.

Very attractive, deep-set complexity of pepper, grilled meat and hard brown spices. Crushed stones, dark berries, citrus fruit and plums, too. The palate has a deep, dense feel with velvety, suave texture at the edge and such intense, powerful fruit. Power and suave texture is a great combination. This really showcases what the Vale does so well.
