Note di degustazione
Beginning with a firm, dusty nose with gobs of fresh, ripe fruit, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Dubrul Vineyard is juicy and hedonistic in the glass, offering seductive floral and oak aromas. Full-bodied and generously layered, the wine shows a kiss of volatility on the palate, which is in step with its weight and structure, giving way to firm, fine-grained and youthful tannins that grip the gumline. This Cabernet evolves in the mouth for moments on the finish, leaving behind persistent flavors of blackberry skin, black cherry reduction and dusty plums. Just under 1,900 bottles were made and will benefit from additional cellar aging. Give it a few more years before opening and enjoy until the middle of the next decade.

The dense purple 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon DuBrul Vineyard is another rockingly good wine from Justin Wylie. From a great site on the northern edge of the Yakima Valley and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s a medium to full-bodied, balanced, structured 2018 offering impressive aromatics of blueberries, sweet currants, lead pencil, and tobacco. It needs short-term cellaring to integrate its oak but should keep for two decades. The quality coming from winemaker Justin Wylie over the past 4 to 5 years certainly merits special attention. These are rich, full-bodied, concentrated wines that show plenty of oak yet wonderful purity of fruit as well.
