Note di degustazione
Blended with 5% Syrah, the 2018 L'Idiot du Village Mourvedre offers fantastic aromas of dusty red flowers with a crunchy red fruit essence. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is mineral-driven on the palate with notions of iodine and umami, followed by flavors of wild strawberry and raspberry and a soft potpourri character. The wine races to a food-friendly finish that has me coming back for a second and third sip. It's a delightful and crushable wine that was made with 50% whole-cluster grapes.

Moderately saturated medium red with a pale rim. Sexy, complex, highly expressive aromas of raspberry, strawberry, brushy herbs, mocha, pepper, spices and olive tapenade. Supple, suave and easygoing; not quite as complex in the mouth as the nose suggests but pungent, savory and delineated, finishing with firm, nicely buffered tannins and a repeating balsamic olive character. I find this riper and longer than the 2017 edition and more aromatically pure and complex. There's certainly no rush to drink it even if it's seamless today. Some additional cellaring may bring a bit more sweetness.
