Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2017-2022, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Oct 2016
Medium red. Peppery red berries accented by exotic orange zest and spice oils on the perfumed nose and palate. A bit less fat and lush but more delineated than the 2012 version of this wine, conveying a surprisingly light touch for its 14.1% alcohol. A very sexy wine with a subtle creaminess but good lift and finishing grip. I'd like to check back in on this one in a few years.

Notes of mulberries, cranberries, exotic spices and spring flowers all emerge from the 2014 L’Idiot du Village, which in 2014 is 100% Mourvèdre from the Alder Ridge and Olsen vineyards. Medium-bodied, lightly textured and juicy, it’s a charming, silky, moderately concentrated effort to drink on release.
