Note di degustazione
Sanzay’s 2017 Les Poyeux reveals aromas of dark wild berries, flowers and smoke, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and delicate texture, a fleshy core of fruit, powdery tannins and long, ethereal and fine-grained finish. It has a real potential to improve in the cellar.

If there's a Cabernet Franc vineyard you need to know in the Saumur Champigny - or the Loire or the world for that matter - Les Poyeux is probably it. Made famous by Clos Rougeard, Sanzay just happens to have 55-year-old vines on this site, which is known for its very shallow topsoil, giving easy access to the limestone subsoil. The 2017 Les Poyeux is elegance in a glass. On the nose, it is all woody herbs, mint and ripe strawberry and red, cherry fruit, but the real delight is not in its aromas but its silken texture that conveys this intensely concentrated wine in a pure and refined package. The honed chalky tannins provide two upright lines on either cheek as if a soldier standing on guard is framing the wine. This is a wine that will leave you feeling serene and satisfied.
