2012 Domaine François Raquillet Mercurey Les Naugues 1er Cru

The 2012 Mercurey 1er Cru Les Naugues has a strident wilted rose-petal nose infused with red cherry and bergamot scents. The palate is succulent in the mouth with saturated tannins, round and seductive, betraying the fine structure on the finish. It does not quite possess the breeding of the Les Velley ’12, but is still another worthy addition to an impressive set of wines. Drink now-2018. Francois Raquillet is one of best producers in Mercurey and his wines come highly recommended. This was an outstanding showing of 2012s that clearly illustrates the potential of the commune. As far as I can tell, these wines are presently not imported to the United States, which is a great shame. Importers: no know US importer but available through Lea & Sandeman in the UK.
