Note di degustazione
Tasted from a 7.5-cl mini sample bottle. Certified organic. The single-vineyard Marienthal delivers more black fruit than red, with hints of dark spice and rusted iron scattered like flower seed on the cooling winds throughout. A wild ride of plunging blackberry, wild cherry, uplifting juniper and whimsical sage. No surprise, but still somewhat closed on the deep and powerful palate. Minerality and momentum with an elegantly bitter chocolate finish. (PS)

From limestone soils, fermented with whole berries for 16 days and aged for eight months in 500-liter oak barrels and another two years in a large foudre, the 2017 Blaufränkisch Ried Marienthal Oggau am Neusiedlersee offers a deep, warm, ripe and intense bouquet of concentrated dark cherries intertwined with floral aromas and paprika notes. Silky and round on the palate, this is a full-bodied and elegant Blaufränkisch with a lingering complex of fine tannins and salty-mineral acidity that takes this wine to a long and dry, slightly iodine finish. The 2017 is still young but bears outstanding talents, such as the combination of complexity and power with purity and coolish finesse. The wine will definitely improve with further bottle aging. Tasted in May 2021.
Certified organic. Deepest crimson. Rich, warm and perfumed aroma. So alluring and open. Black hedgerow fruit, sweet spice and really fresh. Highly structured and still quite oaky therefore needs time in bottle, though it is all in embryonic harmony. Long, chewy finish. (JH)
