Punteggio 91-93/100 · Da bere 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015

The 2014 Vosne Romanée 1Er Cru les Brûlées was bashful on the nose when I first tasted it from barrel. Certainly darker fruit in position here, hints of cassis and tinned peach developing and becoming more citric with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit, the 40% new oak nicely integrated but in control towards the finish. It will need 3-5 years to absorb that oak, but there is clearly enough fruit to absorb that.

From the Richebourg side. 60- to 70-year-old vines. Savoury nose with lots of alluring intensity. Rich and yes, a brûlée note! But with lots of sap and life on the finish. Suave texture and amazing persistence. (JR)

The 2014 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru has a lovely blackberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow bouquet endowed with more fruit than others. The palate is lightly spiced on the entry, quite structured with a firm grip. It's saline with fine depth on the finish. Maybe in a slightly awkward, closed phase, I feel this will open with another couple of years in bottle.
