Also a good value, the 2012 Chardonnay Russian River reveals notes of white currants, honeysuckle and pineapples, good underlying acidity, excellent freshness and a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Only about 7% new oak is used in its upbringing as most of it is aged in neutral wood. It should drink well for 3-4 years. MacMurray Ranch, located in the heart of Russian River, reaches as far south as the Santa Lucia Highlands for some of its fruit. Its history goes back to the mid-1800s, but in 1941 it was purchased by the Hollywood actor, Fred MacMurray, as a family retreat.
