From Coombsville, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Bennett Vineyard is a beautiful wine offering blue fruits, violets, sappy flowers, tobacco, and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, pure, and layered on the palate, it shows fine tannins and impressive freshness. Drink over the coming 8-10 years.

Southern portions of Napa fared particularly well this vintage, and AXR's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Bennett Vineyard—from a site in Coombsville—exemplifies this. Cool on the nose, it's marked by crushed stone and mint, dark cassis and graphite/charcoal notes, while the palate is full-bodied, dense, concentrated and just downright special. Long and softly tannic on the finish, it seems capable of aging well for at least two decades.
