Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2023-2043, Jeb Dunnuck, Jun 2023

Another vivid purple-hued beauty from this team, the 2019 Red Wine is based mostly on Cabernet Franc, with a smaller portion of Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Petit Verdot. Pauillac-like notes of cassis, currants, tobacco, and graphite define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with the vintage's fresh, focused style, ripe tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It's another straight-up gorgeous wine from this estate that will evolve for two decades.

Made from a blend of 58% Cabernet Franc, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Corliss Red Wine is fresh, spicy and juicy with a red-fruited nose that offers subtle oak tones. The wine is medium to full-bodied and shows a tighter core of succulent acidity that should add longevity. The mid-palate shows incredible complexity with bright, juicy red and black fruit flavors while revealing the breadth and depth of this impressive red blend. Set to be released in 2024, it will undoubtedly be food-friendly upon release, yet I recommend giving it one more year in bottle. Just over 5,300 bottles were filled after the wine rested for about two years in just over 50% new French oak. It’s excellent juice!

A pretty and perfumed bouquet of dusty rose, violets, pepper-tinged blackberries and hints of mocha wafts up from the Cabernet Franc-dominated 2019 Red Wine from Corliss. Its silky textures and polished ripe red and blue fruits communicate total elegance, as zesty acidity lends a more accessible and energetic character. Sweet herbal tones, coffee grinds, kirsch and hints of clove are left to linger. The 2019 finishes potent, lightly structured yet full of life. Don't let this radiant beauty fool you with its youthful energetic charms, as there are many years of positive development in store for the patient collector.
