The tiny production 2015 Syrah Soberanes Vineyard is a sensational Syrah that has complexity, elegance and richness. Upfront and perfumed aromatically, yet with serious intensity in its violets, flowers, blueberries, toasty oak and spice, it has an elegant, seamless style on the palate that's already hard to resist. Reminding me of a silky Côte Rôtie from the southern end of the appellation, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will keep for a decade.

The Syrah Soberanes 2015 is a bold, powerful wine. There is good depth to the dark red and purplish-hued fruits, but the 2015 feels a bit raw and unpolished at this stage. Tobacco, earthiness and grilled herb overtones add nuance throughout. I would prefer to give the Syrah at least a few months to come together a bit more fully.
Youthful purple. Highly perfumed black and blue fruit, potpourri, Indian spice and licorice scents. Sweet, seamless and pure, offering sappy black currant, cherry cola and spicecake flavors that expand with aeration. The marriage of power to delicacy here is fabulous. Picks up a smoky nuance on the impressively long finish, which shows excellent clarity and smooth, building tannins that lend shape and grip.
