(Jobard used no new oak for this wine because he made only two and a half barrels and felt that one new one would have been too much): Very ripe stone fruits on the nose and palate. Concentrated and tactile on the palate, offering a lovely balance of sweetness and salinity. The small grapes and old vines here make for a strong wine. Finishes salty and tightly wound, with excellent subtle persistence. Jobard bought these vines after the 2011 harvest and has farmed them since then, but will be pulling them out for replanting this winter as they weren't producing enough fruit.

The 2015 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Champs Gains required some coaxing from the glass, hints of walnut and smoke all nicely defined and gaining intensity. The palate is fresh and saline on the entry with crisp acidity, a hint of bitter lemon and orange rind, leading to a well-defined and persistent finish. Very fine, this one of the better wines from Antoine Jobard this year.

Reduced nose. Not very expressive at present. A bit austere and chewy. May open out eventually. (JR)
