The 2009 Nuits St. Georges La Richemone shows marvelous freshness and vibrancy for the vintage. The wine bristles on the palate with considerable energy. Perrot-Minot’s Richemone is mostly a wine of vertical focus, something that is a bit unusual in 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. I was deeply impressed with Christophe Perrot-Minot’s 2009s. The wines are rich and powerful in the Perrot-Minot style, yet also shine with tons of energy. New oak was 20% for the village level wines, 30% for the premier crus and 30-50% for the grand crus, topping out at 50% for the Chambertin. Importer: Martine’s Wines. Novato, CA; tel. (415) 883-040

Good medium red. Stubbornly closed nose hints at violet, menthol and crushed stone. Large-scaled but youthfully musclebound, with a strong menthol quality to the flavors of currant, graphite and fresh herbs. I'd wait at least six to eight years on this one, which tastes virtually like a barrel sample today.
Red-ruby. Black cherry, licorice, violet and menthol on the nose. Supple, sweet and a bit tanky; comes across as almost simple after the samples from Combe d'Orveaux, with flavors of blackberry and black cherry dominating. This may not be offering much early charm but it's extremely primary and in need of further elevage Finishes with substantial tongue-saturating tannins.
