The 2016 Chardonnay Soberanes Vineyard offers a distinct salinity as well as beautiful white flowers and citrus fruits. Clean, pure, medium-bodied, and elegant, it shows tons of spicy characteristics (as well as that salty minerality) with additional time in the glass. It too will keep for at least 7-8 years.

Transparent yellow-gold. Potent scents of orange, pear nectar, smoky minerals and white flowers carry a spicy ginger overtone. Juicy, tightly focused and energetic on the palate, offering intense, mineral-laced citrus and orchard fruit flavors that are complicated by chamomile and buttered toast flourishes. Shows impressive thrust and clarity on the finish, which clings with strong, mineral-dominated tenacity.
The 2016 Chardonnay Soberanes Vineyard delivers invigorating grapefruit, pineapple and nectarine scents with suggestions of clotted cream, chalk dust and fresh ginger. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers a great intensity of citrus and tropical layers with a lively backbone and mineral-laced finish.
A step up over its 2015 counterpart, the 2016 Chardonnay Soberanes Vineyard is pure and fresh, with hints of sautéed peach, orange blossom, and flowers in a ripe, yet pure, elegant style. Coming from a terrific site in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands and still aging in French oak, it’s up with the finest whites I’ve tasted from this estate.
