Made in Lompoc’s Wine Ghetto and winemaker Raj Parr is apparently there for all of the harvest and all bottlings. Lots of whole bunch. Concrete fermenters. Very dark crimson. Very lively and well chiselled. Edgy. Just a little dry (meaning a slightly lack of juice rather than lacking sweetness)? (JR)

Showing a streamlined, focused and straight feel, the 2012 Pinot Noir Sanford and & Benedict knocks it out of the park with its nose of underbrush, rose petal, red berry and cranberry-slanted aromatics. Still tight on the palate, it has a serious core of fruit and will benefit from another year in bottle and drink nicely through 2020. Looking at the Pinot Noirs, all of the 2012s shows beautiful purity and integrated acidity, with a big slant toward the lighter textured, elegant end of the spectrum. Tel. Crushed flowers, rose petals, mint and small red berries are some of the many notes that lift from the glass in the 2012 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict. This is one of the more perfumed, open Pinots in the Sandhi range.
