2020 Tablas Creek Panoplie

The 2020 Panoplie is a barrel sample of 59% Mourvèdre, 28% Syrah and 13% Grenache. It has a medium garnet color and muddled red and black fruits with notes of tar, chargrill, woodsmoke, earth and tea leaves. The palate is very juicy, with a clay-like texture, earth-laced fruits and a slightly dilute finish. (EB)

Dark, glistening purple. Powerful kirsch, dark berry, incense, lavender and exotic spice aromas show sharp delineation and pick up a smoky mineral note as the wine opens up. Sweet and seamless in texture, offering deeply concentrated black raspberry, cherry preserve, five-spice powder and violet pastille flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Deftly melds richness and finesse and finishes extremely long and spicy, with resonating florality and pliant tannins that add shape and discreet grip. (JR)
