Bright red. Highly perfumed aromas of red berries, potpourri and spicy oak. Sweet, silky and seamless, with captivating strawberry and raspberry preserve flavors and an array of Asian spice nuances. In a distinctly elegant style, with noteworthy focus and vivacity. Finishes with excellent length and lingering florality.

The 2008 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict shows lovely focus, depth and vibrancy. It is one of the fresher wines in this lineup of 2008 Pinots. Dark cherries, spices and licorice are some of the notes that flow from this graceful Pinot. A juicy, enveloping finish rounds things out nicely. The Sanford & Benedict was made from a Mt. Eden clone.

The Pinots are vinified with indigenous yeasts and spend 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% new for all wines except the Melville, which gets 70%. Tel. (310) 994-3207; www.bonawine.net
Deep red. Redcurrant, dried flowers, spices and smoked meat on the nose, along with an exotic suggestion of cherry pit. Spicy and intense, with good delineation of flavor giving the dark fruit flavors a sappy, savory quality. Finishes spicy and persistent, with supple tannins and very good lift. This will be even better in a couple of years.
