Note di degustazione
The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a strong pastille-like aroma on the nose that feels a little confected compared to its peers - more winemaking than wine. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite dense for a Chambolle with a grippy, quite saturated finish, hints of brown spice and meat juices lingering on the aftertaste. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Charmes comes from 75-year-old vines that yielded just half the normal production due to frost. It has a broody nose, dark berry fruit, wilted rose petals and cold stone aromas, a little curmudgeonly at the moment. The palate is structured and quite masculine for this vineyard, but there is plenty of freshness and tension here, a classic Burgundy Pinot Noir with a sense of energy on the curt finish. I suspect this will flesh out with bottle age. One to watch.
