(from 40-year-old vines; "barely chaptalized," according to Frédéric Esmonin): Deep red-ruby. Pure, minty aromas of black fruits, licorice and violet. Juicy, lively wine with a strong licorice flavors. Not fleshy but boasts good dark fruit intensity and excellent acidity. The building tannins avoid coming off as dry or hard but will need a couple years to unwind.
