The 2018 Pinot Noir Hailey's Block comes from a cooler section of the Russian River Valley (it comes from a small block in the Arrendell Vineyard) and it shows, with the wine offering a darker, more herbal, sappy style in its black cherry and mulberry fruits as well as candied violet, spice, and spring flower-like aromas and flavors. As with all these 2018s from Hartford Court, the palate is spot on, and it has incredible purity of fruit, flawless tannins, and a great, great finish.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Hailey's Block offers up an especially earthy, savory range of cool-climate flavors. Dried cherry, cedar, tobacco, spice and dried flowers all take shape with a bit of coaxing. The Hailey's Block is the sort of wine that really needs to be enjoyed over time, as it opens nicely with some aeration.
The 2018 Pinot Noir Hailey's Block was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 36% new. Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with flamboyant scents of blackberries and black raspberries with hints of chocolate-covered cherries, sassafras, cracked black pepper and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate explodes with crunchy black berry layers, supported by velvety tannins and tons of freshness, finishing earthy. 240 cases were made.
