Punteggio 90/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2018

Aged 16 months in 20% new oak, the 2004 Pinot Noir Fe Ciega Vineyard has aged nicely and offers lots of black cherry and currant fruits, forest floor, leather, and gamey aromas and flavors. It's still concentrated, rich and textured, with supple tannin and a great finish. It's certainly fully mature yet will continue to evolve gracefully. The Fe Ciega Vineyard (which is Spanish for blind faith) is a cool site on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, and Adam’s Pinot Noir from this site is mostly destemmed (it was completely destemmed up through the 2010 vintage) and spends 15 months in roughly 20% new barrels. It has a wonderfully complex style and can easily deep for 10-15 years after the vintage.

Fruit-forward, linear, well-structured, and pure, the elegant, deep 2004 Pinot Noir Fe Ciega (a Santa Rita Hills site owned by Rick Longoria) exhibits plenty of black raspberry, plum, and cherry fruit along with hints of Allspice and background oak. It is medium to full-bodied, lush, and heady. Tel. (805) 649-1674
