The 2012 Pinot Noir le Pre du Col Vineyard comes from a vineyard that Josh said surprises him every year, perhaps because it used to be in a "teenage state." It has an aversion to new oak and so none is used here. There is certainly more fruit intensity on the nose, the fruit spectrum veering more toward red fruit with hints of wild mushroom coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, fine tension and a slight candied note that lends the finish more sweetness than say the Gregory Ranch of Shea Vineyard '12s. It clams up a little on the finish, so give this a year in bottle just to fully integrate. Very fine.

Brilliant ruby-red. Displays vibrant raspberry and cherry on the nose, along with suggestions of candied rose and Asian spices. Fresh and incisive on the palate, showing very good energy to its sappy red berry and blood orange flavors. The spicy quality comes back strong on the vibrant finish, which features silky tannins and a whiplash of sweet red berry fruit.
The 2012 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col is dusty and floral, with notes of strawberry coulis, mint, cedary spice box and a refreshing hint of split pine. Silken in character, it displays remarkable balance despite the warmth of the vintage. A cascade of clove and sour cherry is offset by zesty acidity as nuances of tangerine mingle with a slight balsamic tinge. The 2012 tapers off with an unexpectedly juicy feel.
