Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2023-2040, Jeb Dunnuck, Apr 2020

The 2017 Tempranillo is stunning stuff and comes all from the estate on Red Mountain. A brilliant nose of red currants, vanilla spice, dried flowers, lavender, and smoked meats gives way to a full-bodied red that has building yet silky tannins, flawless balance, no hard edges, and a fabulous, weightless, elegant texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. This is one of those wine that brings serious intensity and richness yet still just glides across the palate with no sensation of weight or heaviness. It’s approachable today yet will benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and drink fabulously well for 15+ years.

Punteggio 89-91/100 · Da bere 2020-2032, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, Dec 2019

The 2017 Tempranillo is dominated by generous black fruit on the nose and may have been taken too far. There is a rigidity to the nose, offering up more non-fruit characters—smoked game meats and resinous purple flowers that would stain your clothes. The palate is full-bodied, massive and weighty, only to bow to firm, unmovable tannins at the moment. I suspect the tannins will mellow slightly before the wine is released. Ending with a long, grippy finish, there are few things about this wine that tell me it's a Tempranillo. Only 100 cases were created.
