Note di degustazione
The 2018 Retour De Marche comes from very old Mourvèdre (and some Syrah) and spent a short time in concrete tank. It reminds me of some of the old vine Monastrell coming out of Jumilla with its big, upfront bouquet of red and blue berries, spring flowers, violets, and spice. It too has wonderful purity of fruit, nicely integrated acidity, and a clean, balanced, classy style. Drink it over the coming 2-4 years.

Made without added sulfites, the 2019 Languedoc Retour du Marché is a tank-aged blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache produced under the auspices of the Paux-Rosset family, with Claude Gros as consultant. It's meant for early consumption, boasting dynamic cherry, spice and blueberry shadings, a medium-bodied, supple feel in the mouth and a lingering, licorice-tinged finish. Drink this fun, gluggable burger wine over the next year or so.
Certified organic. No sulphites. Slight petillance – has this had some CO2 to preserve it? Charcuterie flavours, a dirty-steak charcoal note. Edgy, sour, cranberry. Interesting wine which will be lovely with food. Lovely chewy, dusty tannins and on the finish, the dustiness of tomato vine. (TC)
