Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2025-2033, Eric Guido, Vinous, Jan 2024

Spicy and intense, the 2015 Red Wine comes to life in the glass with a burst of black raspberry and clove, complicated by mocha and brown spice. This is especially creamy and potent, chock full of rich red and blue fruits that soothe the palate. Racy acidity helps to cut the 2015’s massive textural girth, as edgy tannins settle in and inner violet florals slowly fade. This shows the warmth of the vintage in its fruit and tannins and falls a bit out of balance toward the close.

A richly colored wine that has impressive dark-berry intensity on the nose, as well as a wealth of woody spices and cedary-oak influence. The palate has a very succulent and forthright feel with a central spine of tannin that carries it long and seamless. Polished and complete wine. Drink or hold.

The 2015 Red Wine checks in as a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot that spent a full 28 months in new and used barrels. Saturated purple-colored, with loads of spiced red and black fruits, smoked meats, graphite, and barbecue notes, this power-packed effort hits the palate with full-bodied richness, loads of mouthcoating tannins, terrific depth of fruit, and a big finish. I wouldn't think about opening bottles for another 3-4 years and it will keep for two decades.

(mostly from Michael Corliss's Red Mountain Canyons vineyard; aged in 65% new oak for 28 months): Bright medium ruby. Aromas of blueberry, blackberry, cassis, licorice pastille and sexy oak convey distinctly warm tones. Wonderfully rich, plush wine with terrific horizontality on the palate; not quite as thick as the 2014 version but sweeter and surprisingly fragrant, showing an element of chocolatey ripeness and a hint of wild herbs. This was actually bottled a bit earlier than usual but is unlikely to be released before 2020. The tannins spread out and build on the long, spicy finish. This dense, very primary wine possesses terrific fruit but is still an infant.
