Note di degustazione
Bright violet. Ripe cassis and cherry aromas are complemented by suggestions of olive, smoked meat and violet. Gently sweet black and blue fruit and spicecake flavors are joined by a bitter chocolate note that builds with aeration. The cassis and olive notes cling nicely on the finish, which is shaped by dusty, slow-building tannins.

Coming from higher elevation parcels just outside Côte Rôtie, the 100% Syrah 2015 Valine is a juicy, ripe, straight up delicious Syrah. Deeply colored, with lots of blackberry, peppery herbs, and earthy aromas and flavors, this medium-bodied effort has good acidity, plenty of fruit and texture, and a good finish. It’s a serious wine that’s well worth drinking. It will keep for at least 4-6 years. These are the first releases I’ve tasted from vigneron Jean-Luc Jamet, who left the family estate in 2013. His Côte Rôtie is slightly more accessible and forward than that of his brother Jean-Paul, yet is a beautiful wine that has plenty of classic Jamet character.
