Bottled with 14% alcohol, the 2019 Ried Pellingen 1ÖTW Grüner Veltliner Privat opens with a clear, fresh, intense, beautifully aromatic yet elegant bouquet of white rather than yellow tropical fruits intertwined with notes of crushed stones. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, lush and refined Veltliner with ripe pear aromas and lingering mineral freshness. This is a well-balanced 2019 even though you will feel the warmth from the alcohol on the finish. Screwcap. Tasted in July 2021.

Crystalline rocks, loess. Screwcap. Like the Proidl Pellingen 2019, this has rich, ripe fruit aromas, pear and stone fruit in this case. Zesty nevertheless. Lovely deep but fresh ripe fruit on the palate. Generous, full in the mouth, spicy. Fades a little on the finish. (JH)
