Note di degustazione
Russell's '09 Herman Story Syrah Nuts and Bolts is a 100% Syrah blend from multiple vineyards (Shadow Canyon, Luna Matta, Terra Bella, White Hawk, and Larner Vineyard.) Showing a inky purple color, the wine is round and supple, delivering decadent black and blue fruits, barbecued meats, leather, flowers, and sweet spice aromatics on the nose. This is followed by a full-bodied, brilliantly textured palate that has layers of sweet fruit, a full, mouth coating texture, and a very long finish. Much more approachable and friendly than the White Hawk Syrah, this is superb now with a short decant, and should continue to impress for 6-8 years or more.

The 2009 Nuts and Bolts (Syrah) is a rich, textured wine layered with black fruit, licorice, leather and spices, all of which come together in a sumptuous fabric. This is another strong showing from Herman Story, although a little more complexity would be nice. Nuts and Bolts was made from a number of vineyards and aged 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 55% were new.

These two wines from Harrison Clarke are made in an overt, jammy style with tons of richness and textural opulence. Tel (805) 237-2400; russel@hermanstorywines.com
