The 2020 Chardonnay Grower Collection El Novillero Vineyard was aged in 40% new French oak and has soft herbaceous notes of fresh tarragon, pear, and white flowers. The palate is supple, with fresh melon, lemon curd, and vanilla as well as a long, floral finish. Drink 2023-2030.

The nose and palate carry a mix of tropical fruits zested with lemon and white grapefruit, followed in the mouth by a sprinkle of baking spice and crème brûlée. Vanilla bean takes over through the finish with a savoury accent. The acidity is palate-cleansing, but the wine is also a touch rich and disjointed. A bit more time in bottle might help the wine resolve into greater cohesion. (ECB)
