Good medium-deep red. High-toned aromas of candied red cherry, flowers and resiny oak. Rich but dry and tightly wound today, with a strong edge of acidity. The raspberry fruit is nicely lifted by a floral perfume. This has more dimension than the Clos Prieur but is very unevolved today, showing a firm structure typical of the vintage. IÂ’d wait five or six years on this.

Dark red. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, menthol, smoked meat and mocha. Juicy and penetrating on the palate, with lovely sweetness and intriguing suggestions of black licorice and iron. Has the energy and verve of the better examples from this vintage. Intensely flavored and quite firm, with the tannins nicely buffered by the wine's material.
