Pouring a beautiful peachy salmon hue, the 2014 Champagne Clos Des Goisses Juste Rose Extra-Brut is very pretty on the nose, with aromas of wild strawberries. While it’s full-bodied, it has a much more linear feel in this vintage, with a refined structure, plenty of freshness, a lot of finesse, and a long, clean, stony finish, with notes of candied grapefruit. I also love the salty spice that accents the wine. It’s a beautiful vintage for this cuvée, and those seeking finesse are going to want to snap it up. Drink it over the coming 20 or more years. 2800 bottles were produced.

Evoking aromas of strawberries, red berries, spices, papaya, rose petals and baked bread, the 2014 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is a stunning Champagne rosé. Full-bodied, vinous and layered, it's concentrated and has a structured mid-palate, racy acids and a long, mineral, dense finish. This blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay was disgorged in March 2024 with 4.5 grams per liter dosage, with only 2,820 bottles produced. Undoubtedly, this is a gastronomic Champagne that could age gracefully over the next 30 years or more.
A light, salmon pink color with glints of gold, the Clos Des Goisses 2014 Juste Rosé is an 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay blend, 30% of which is saignée Pinot Noir to bring a lightly extracted rosé element to the wine. Delicately scented with pretty aromas of strawberry, plum, mandarine, marzipan, and nougat, the light to medium-bodied palate is expressive and bright with a creamy fruit texture and undertone of mineral salinity all ringed by halo of bright acid freshness. The 2014 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is another super-promising wine from Philipponnat. In fact, it may turn out to be even better than the Blanc. The decision to blend in 29% saignée Pinot (the highest ever here) and skip the addition of still red wine has paid off big time. In this tasting, the 2014 Juste Rosé shows notable depth and textural resonance. It is more complex and layered than the Blanc, with plenty of blood orange, floral and mineral character that lingers. I tasted it à la volée , with no dosage, rather than as a fully finished wine.
