Note di degustazione
The 2009 Ried Im Weingebirge Grüner Veltliner Smaragd is clear, precise and fresh on the pure yet intense and complex nose that combines ripe and defined fruit aromas with the flinty notes of the terroir and its paragneiss emergences. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a fresh and savory, stimulating crystalline and saline Veltliner from the Weingebirge that reveals a long, vital and elegant finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Archive Release 2024. Tasted in January 2025.

Gneiss/Loess on the southern side of the Danube and warmer here in Mautern, open to the east. Biodynamic farming. Long aged in a huge cask – bottled 2011. RS 5 g/l. Very distinctive. Honey, cedar, spice and wild herbs. Barley sugar too. Tastes rather like a honey and lemon cough sweet but it has amazing acidity. Has a woody/cedary character. Broad, rich, fresh acidity but a more oxidative style than most. (JH)
Loess soils. All biodynamic. Complex and almost exotic in its richness and spice. Mouthwatering and intense at the same time. Creamy and dense and yet has amazing energy and length. (JH)
