The 2015 Misfit checks in as a mix of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Grenache and Viognier that spent 25 months in new and used barrels. Medium to full-bodied, supple, and elegant, it offers a deep purple color as well as powerful notes of blue fruits, smoked meats, spring flowers, and barbecue smoke. It offers serious pleasure today but will integrate its tannins nicely with short-term cellaring and keep for upward of a decade.

The 2015 Misfit is a Syrah-based blend done with dollops of Grenache, Cabernet Franc and Viognier. Succulent dark cherry, tobacco, mint and pomegranate all rush out of the glass. Open-knit and succulent, the 2015 has plenty to offer, in an easygoing style relative to most of the wines. Attractive floral and savory notes add freshness on the finish.
A blend of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Grenache and Viognier, the 2015 Misfit is very expressive, revealing notes of ripe plum, smoke, grilled meat and a touch of creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and lavishly textural, though its generous and expansive attack soon gives way to a rather dried out, baked, firm finish. While this cuvée's exuberant ripeness makes quite a statement and will seduce many, its ultimate balance is questionable.
