The 2021 Red Wine Old Hill Ranch is beguiling. Perfumed and light on its feet, the Old Hill possesses striking aromatic intensity and tons of character. Tasting is like stepping back into another era, a time when field blends were the norm. The 2021 is mostly Zinfandel, but the field includes at least twenty other varieties that add textural and flavor complexity. This 2021 is compelling.

Mostly Zinfandel but including an unknown number of other varietals in this block, the 2021 Red Wine Old Hill Ranch offers notes of pure cherry fruit, wild rosemary herbs, cigar box spices, and fresh roses. Full-bodied, with great structure and ripe, present tannins, it has fresh acidity, great lift, and a long finish. This is packed with layers that unfold, and it will be fantastic over the next 15 years.
